Indigenous

The Indigenous Department actively identifies and nurtures talented Indigenous Australians and provides funding opportunities for them to participate in the film, television and interactive media production indusry. The department aims to fund projects that display bold, distinctive authorial voices that are diverse and culturally engaging.

The department also takes a proactive role in shaping and influencing the policy environment for issues affecting Indigenous screen content creators.

Head, Indigenous - Erica Glynn

A graduate of AFTRS in Sydney, Erica cut her teeth working for the Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association (CAAMA) in Alice Springs. Erica’s award-winning short film
My Bed, Your Bed was an international success. She’s also made many documentaries including A Walk With Words with Romaine Morton and Ngangkari about traditonal healers of the Central Desert Region.

 

Investment/Development Manager - Gillian Moody

  Gillian Moody

Gillian joined the Indigenous Department as a Project Manager in February 2007. Prior to this she spent ten years with the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) primarily as a Production Manager with the Indigenous Media Unit on programs such as ICAM and Living Black along with the TV series Mum’s the Word and many one-off documentary and special event programs. Gillian is an experienced producer who has mentored several first time writer/directors through Metro Screen short film initiatives.  Recently she produced the short film Daniel's 21st with director Adrian Wills under the Screen NSW Emerging Filmmaker Fund.

 

Investment/Development Manager - Kyas Sherriff

  Kyas Sherriff

Kyas has been working in the arts industry for over 10 years. She is a professional theatre/television/film actor. After completing the Lester Bostock Indigenous Mentorship she wrote and directed two short films, Feel My Absence and The Crane. With a longstanding theatre background Kyas has been a reader for the PlayWriting Australia and performed at three conferences. Always connected to community, Kyas worked at the Arts Law Centre of Australia as the Indigenous Liaison Officer involved with Artists in the Black.
