Screen Australia is subject to the Privacy Act 1988 which requires that we comply with the Information Privacy Principle (IPPs) set out in that Act. The IPPs set out how Australian Government agencies should collect, use, store and disclose personal information and how individuals can access records containing their personal information.
The personal information handling practices the Australian Film Commission (AFC), one of the three agencies that merged to form Screen Australia on 1 July 2008, are detailed in the annual Personal Information Digest.

Any complaints about Screen Australia’s personal information handling practices can be made to the Privacy Contact Officer or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Screen Australia welcomes feedback on the quality of its services, either verbally or in writing, including by email. Complaints will be referred to the relevant Director, who will work with the staff of the section involved to ensure speedy resolution of the complaint.
Screen Australia undertakes to keep complainants informed of the progress of their complaints.
You can lodge a complaint with the Commonwealth Ombudsman (1300 362 072 for the cost of a local call) if you are dissatisfied with Screen Australia’s complaints-handling procedures or if your complaint is not resolved satisfactorily.
Under the Freedom of Information Act 1982, members of the public can seek access to documents and files held by Screen Australia.
Applications must be in writing and there is a $30 application fee. Cheques and money orders should be made payable to the Collector of Public Monies. FOI requests should be sent to:
